Paris Avec Les Filles
Squeezing in the tiny hotel elevator
With all the trips I’ve taken to visit my family in Brussels, Belgium. My sister and I always find a way to pop over to Paris. This time, with my nieces being 12 and 14 (now 15), I thought it would be cute for just the three of us.
Being from Belgium, they really just wanted to go to the museum - we chose Musée D’Orsay this time - and catch the vibes at the cafés. Our favorite one was near D’Orsay - Les Antiquaires! It was bustling with locals catching a (long) midday meal, with incredible waiters, cozy and not too hip. I like a little well-worn place.
I made sure to book a cute hotel with a little spa, which Eli LOVED, and Oli appreciated the time alone. Both loved the cafés and mostly wanted to chill, see, eat, and shop! It was a memory maker for sure, and I can’t wait to take them on more trips!
Oh, and lastly, I am working on my courage to ask strangers (in French!) for their portrait. This man was such a character with great style. I passed him, paused, walked back towards him, and asked, “excusé-moi - je peux prendre ta photo?” He obliged and told me he used to be a photographer, but used a Nikon… I was shooting 35mm Canon 1N, then he waved me off: “allez”. Mission accomplished.
