How to begin, again

If you’re reading this, welcome to the beginning of a new era for Miss Kendra Smith. I’ve decided that blogging/writing and weekly sharing of how I see the world in this space will be good for my head and my heart. It’s also a place to pull me away from just sharing on social media and getting stuck in the stream of consumption. I’d like to get to a place where my photographs are printed and shared in a more focused avenue, so this is the start of something fresh - In more ways than one!

I took these photographs while hiking from the Cache trailhead in Jackson, Wyoming. I first fell in love with Wyoming when I visited Laramie and the Snowy Range in 2010. So much has changed since then, and so have I… I’ve moved nearly every year of my adult life. From Texas to Los Angeles, Kansas City, Belgium, back to LA, to Colorado (LA again), Arkansas, Minnesota, and on… Always looking for a place to root and land.

I’ve felt a pull north and to “the wild” since I was a girl. Obsessed with NatGeo and tales of my grandparents driving from Texas to Alaska through the Yukon. I still plan on making that drive… but for now, I’ve officially decided that the next move (and hopefully last) is to the Teton Valley. This will not shock my friends and family, but it still makes me wary of change while knowing in my gut that my place is in the mountains, northward bound!
